Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about ADHD coaching and how it works
What is ADHD coaching?
ADHD coaching is a practical, supportive space to help you (or your child) better understand how an ADHD brain works - and how to work with it rather than against it.
My coaching is about building awareness, confidence and strategies that actually fit real life. Find out more about how I work.
This isn't therapy, and it isn't about "fixing" anyone. It's about understanding, support, and forward movement - at a pace that feels safe.
Who do you work with?
My main focus is supporting:
- Teens and young people with ADHD
- Parents and families navigating ADHD
- Parents of younger children, especially at the start of their ADHD journey
You don't need to fit into a neat box. If ADHD is affecting your life or your family, we can explore whether coaching feels right.
Does my child need a formal ADHD diagnosis?
No - a diagnosis is not required.
Many families come to me when they are:
- Exploring ADHD for the first time
- On a waiting list
- Recently diagnosed
- Fairly sure ADHD is part of the picture but unsure what to do next
Coaching can be helpful at any stage. You don't need certainty - just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Get in touch if you'd like to talk it through.
How is coaching different from therapy or counselling?
Coaching is forward-focused and practical.
Where therapy often looks deeply into the past or emotional healing, coaching focuses on understanding how your brain works, building strategies that fit real life, moving towards goals that matter to you, and developing confidence and self-awareness.
I'm not a therapist, and coaching is not a replacement for therapy. But for many people, coaching is the practical, motivating support that helps things start to shift.
Do you meet my teen before coaching starts?
Yes, always. If you reach out to me because you'd like me to coach your teen or young person, we'll start with a discovery call for you as the parent, and then I'll have a separate discovery call with your young person before any coaching begins.
This matters because coaching only works when the young person is willing to show up as themselves. Meeting me first lets them decide whether they want to work with me, ask questions, and get a feel for what sessions will be like - without you in the room and without any obligation.
If they say yes, we go ahead. If they say no, or not yet, that's also a completely valid answer, and we'll talk about what might help instead. You can read more about this on the how I work page.
Still have questions?
Book a free discovery call and we can chat through anything you're unsure about - no obligation.
